{"id":16,"date":"2021-08-23T13:49:38","date_gmt":"2021-08-23T13:49:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.netx-pro.nl\/?page_id=16"},"modified":"2021-09-15T12:49:18","modified_gmt":"2021-09-15T12:49:18","slug":"test","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.netx-pro.nl\/?page_id=16","title":{"rendered":"Windows 10, Azure AD Join and Password Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.wisefaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Azure.png\" alt=\"Azure\">Our devices are joined to Azure AD.<br>We have found an issue when the user is prompted to change their password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Issue<br>When the user is prompted to change their password, they are directed to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com\/ChangePassword.aspx\">https:\/\/account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com\/ChangePassword.aspx<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The user successfully changes their password, and then finds that they cannot connect to our on-premise Active Directory resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cause<br>The Local Profile (Cached) Password on the workstation is not being updated with the users new password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fix \/ workaround<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>User still changes their password via&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com\/ChangePassword.aspx\">https:\/\/account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com\/ChangePassword.aspx<\/a><\/li><li>They then immediately LOCK their workstation (Windows + L)<\/li><li>They unlock their workstation, with their NEW password.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Why this works<br>It forces the local workstation to validate the password with Azure AD, and then this updates the copy of the password which is stored in the local workstation user profile.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our devices are joined to Azure AD.We have found an issue when the user is prompted to change their password.
